Preparations Required

If your package includes a resting ECG, please ensure that there is a closed room where you can lie down on a flat surface (i.e. a bedroom), as you will be required to remove your top during the ECG. A team member of your same gender will be performing the ECG for you. If you have a hairy chest, we would like to politely ask that you shave your chest prior to the appointment. This is to ensure that your ECG will be a smooth and comfortable experience. As the chest leads are stickers that will be applied to your chest, hairy areas may cause the stickers to stick poorly and influence the results. It may also cause discomfort during removal. Other specialised tests may require other forms of preparation. These preparations will be made known to you before your appointment by our team members so just keep a lookout for any emails/messages from us!
Specimen containers will be mailed to your home address in 3-5 business days once we’ve received your order. The stool sample should be collected on the day of or the day before your appointment. The urine sample must be collected on the same day of your appointment. You should collect only ‘mid-stream’ urine to reduce the risk of bacteria contamination, and it shouldn’t be your first urine of the day! Our team will collect your samples on the day of your screening.
Nope, fasting will not be required for the home-based screening! Modern medicine and diagnostics have come a long way. Certain tests and scans may require fasting though. If you’ve booked any of the following appointments, a 6-8 hour fasting period will be required. Plain water is allowed so remember to stay hydrated! ● Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT) ● Urea Breath Test ● Ultrasound/CT Abdomen ● CT Calcium Scoring ● CT Coronary Angiogram
Here are a few important points to note: 1. Our team will send you a message to confirm your appointment date, time, and location one day prior, which you need to acknowledge. 2. Hydration is essential. Stay hydrated by drinking an adequate amount of water, as it ensures your veins are in optimal condition for blood taking. Well-hydrated patients experience fewer blood draw failures. It will also help you provide a urine sample during your screening appointment. 3. If you are taking any long-term medications, continue them as usual before and on the day of your appointment. 4. Fasting is not required for your screening. However, it is recommended to avoid heavy/fatty meals and caffeinated beverages immediately prior to your health screening. Additionally, abstain from consuming alcohol for at least 24 hours before your appointment. 5. Ensure you get enough sleep prior to your health screening. Lack of sleep may affect your screening results.

Yes, there isn’t much of a difference between cholesterol levels in fasting and non-fasting samples because of the way it’s measured now. For diabetes screening, the HbA1c test is now the benchmark and this test works by telling us the average level of glucose in your red blood cells over the previous 2-3 months instead of focusing on the specific screening day. This is as reliable as any fasting test for diabetes monitoring/screening.
