Chlamydia + Gonorrhoea PCR
Chlamydia and gonorrhoea are sexually transmitted bacterial infections that cause similar symptoms such as painful or frequent urination, abnormal genitalia discharge, bleeding or pain. Screening for these infections with a PCR test is more accurate and qualitative, as compared to using traditional bacterial cultures.
Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV)
Herpes simplex virus, commonly known as just herpes, is a virus that can cause oral herpes (cold sores), genital herpes and infections in other areas of the body that present as blisters or warts. There are 2 types of HSV - HSV-1 and HSV-2. The virus can be spread by sexual contact or skin-to-skin contact. Once infected, there is no cure for the virus. You can only treat and manage it whenever it reactivates and causes outbreaks.
Hepatitis C
Hepatitis C is an infectious disease caused by the Hepatitis C virus which can lead to acute or chronic inflammation of the liver. This virus is transmitted through exposure to blood from an infected person such as unsafe injection practices, unscreened blood transfusions or sexual practices that can lead to exposure to blood. Hepatitis C can be life threatening and result in long-term damage of the liver.
HIV
Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is spread through unprotected sex and can cause Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) as the virus damages your immune system. Although there is no cure for HIV, HIV can be managed with medications to prevent it from worsening and progressing to AIDS.
VDRL (Syphilis)
Syphilis is a bacterial infection spread by sexual contact. It presents as painless sores that can appear on the genitals, rectum or mouth. Early syphilis can be cured with antibacterials. Without treatment, damage can be caused to the heart, brain and other organs, resulting in life-threatening complications.

Note :

Most of these sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) can result in long-term damage of certain organs. Good thing some of them are treatable with the right medications and therefore, detection is crucial.

Ureaplasma & mycoplasma
Ureaplasma parvum and Mycoplasma genitalium are bacterium that can be spread by sexual contact and cause bacterial infection. If left untreated, it can result in pain or frequent urination. In women particularly, these bacterium can contribute to infertility and preterm labour if left untreated.
Urine culture & sensitivity
Urine culture and sensitivity helps to other possible micro-organisms that may cause urinary tract infection (UTI), and the anti-bacterials that’ll be effective against it.
Bacterial vaginosis screen Trichomonas, Gardnerella, Candidiasis
This screens for 3 possible causes of Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) - trichomonas, gardnerella and candida. BV is caused by an overgrowth of bacteria that disrupts the natural balance of balance keeping the vagina healthy. BV increases your risk of STIs, STDs, pelvic inflammatory disease which may lead to infertility or complications during pregnancy.

Yes, there isn’t much of a difference between cholesterol levels in fasting and non-fasting samples because of the way it’s measured now. For diabetes screening, the HbA1c test is now the benchmark and this test works by telling us the average level of glucose in your red blood cells over the previous 2-3 months instead of focusing on the specific screening day. This is as reliable as any fasting test for diabetes monitoring/screening.
